July 18, 2012
U. S. Senator Mark Warner (and former Virginia Governor) attended the Martinsville Mustang game on July 20, 2012 which was the Patrick County night.

The promotion of the Patrick County night was led by the Patrick County Chamber of Commerce. Throwing out the first ball was Jeanette Filipi, the new Administrator of the Pioneer Hospital in Stuart, VA. Also throwing out the 2nd ball was Senator Warner. The Mustangs won the game 1-0 on a two hit shutout of the Forest City team. Rain threatened the game all evening, with a few drops of rain. But a full fledged rain did not occur and the game went the full 9 innings. Richard Rogers of WHEO 1270 AM radio was on the spot to interview Senator Warner. ly 20, 2012 - Coastal Plain League (Coastal Plain) Forest City Owls Mustang pitcher Jay Lynch needed over 120 pitches to do it, but he led the Martinsville Mustangs to a 1-0 win over the Forest City Owls. Lynch threw a complete game, the first 9-inning complete game by a pitcher against the Owls this year. The righty surrendered just two hits and only three runners in scoring position all night. It's the first time Forest City's been shut out in 2012. In the photo is Tom Bishop, Executive Director of the Patrick County Chamber, Senator Warner and Tom's grandson, Luke West of Dunn, NC.
