Highland Games are events held throughout the year in Scotland and other countries as a way of celebrating Scottish and Celtic culture and heritage, especially in the Scottish Highlands.
Certain aspects of the games are so well known as to become emblematic of Scotland, such as the bagpipes, the kilt and heavy events, especially the caber toss. While centered on competitions and piping and drumming, dancing, and Scottish heavy athletics, the games also include entertainment and exhibits related to other aspects of Scottish and Gaelic culture.
The Laurel Hill Scottish Highland Games follow the traditions here in Patrick County, VA where many a Scotsman and Irishman decided to call the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains their home. Come join us to help celebrate General Stuart’s Scottish heritage.
“The JEB Stuart Birthplace is commemorating the Sesquicentennial of the Civil War.”
