Patrick County’s population grew by eight-tenths of a percent between the 2010 census and July 1 of last year. It moved from 18490 to 18635, an increase of 145 people

Henry County’s population declined by a half percent, Martinsville’s grew by sixth-tenths of a percent, and Patrick County’s grew by eight-tenths of a percent between the 2010 census and July 1 of last year.
Those figures are according to the most recent official population estimates for the state developed by the University of Virginia’s Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service.
The report indicates that from the 2010 census to July 1, 2011 (estimate):
• Henry County’s population fell from 54,151 to 53,867, a loss of 284 people, or 0.5 percent.
• Martinsville’s population grew from 13,821 to 13,902, an increase of 81 people, or 0.6 percent.
• Patrick County’s population grew from 18,490 to 18,635, an increase of 145 people, or 0.8 percent.
According to Cooper center data, during that time period, Virginia’s population grew from 8,001,024 to 8,096,604, an increase of 95,580, or 1.2 percent.
