Winter weather advisory in effect from noon today to 6 pm est tuesday,
The NWS in blacksburg has issued a winter weather advisory for snow and light icing, which is in effect from noon today to 6 pm est Tuesday. The winter storm watch is no longer in effect.
Accumulation, 3 to 5 inches of snow most areas. Snow tapering off to light freezing rain or freezing drizzle toward daybreak Tuesday, with ice accretion less than a tenth of an inch.
Timing, light snow will begin around noon. The snow will be moderate to heavy at times late this afternoon into tonight before tapering off toward Tuesday morning to light freezing rain and freezing drizzle. A prolonged period of freezing drizzle is possible on Tuesday.
Impacts, travel will likely become hazardous late this afternoon. With temperatures remaining in the 20s most areas by 600 pm, area roads will become snow covered. The combination of snow and light icing toward morning may make travel especially hazardous.
