National College once again named “Military Friendly School� Exclusive grants and other benefits put National in top 15% of all colleges nationwide

30 August 2010 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Chuck Steenburgh / 540-769-8264 CSteenburgh@National-College.edu National College once again named “Military Friendly School� Exclusive grants and other benefits put National in top 15% of all colleges nationwide National College has been named a “Military Friendly School� for 2011 by G.I. Jobs magazine for the second consecutive year. The annual survey of more than 7,000 post-secondary institutions ranks schools according to a variety of measures that are important to military and veteran students. Only those in the top 15% receive the “Military Friendly School� designation. “National College has always been dedicated to the support and success of military and veteran students,� says President Frank Longaker. “This designation is an important, independent acknowledgment of the fact that few schools provide as many benefits for veterans looking to pursue higher education as National does.� National College offers an extensive array of unique benefits for military & veteran students: Blue Ribbon Grant. National College awards up to $8,000 in tuition assistance to qualified military veterans, active duty, Guard/Reserve and military spouses and dependents. This program is unique to National College. Armed Services Recognition Grant. Through this grant—available exclusively at National College—qualified students may receive up to $4,000 in tuition assistance. Yellow Ribbon Institution. National will cover any tuition and/or fees not covered by Post-9/11 G. I. Bill benefits. College Credit for Military Training & Experience. As a member of the Servicemembers Opportunity College (SOC) Consortium, National College grants college credit according to guidelines developed by the American Council on Education. Employer in Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR). National College honors the continuing service of Guard and Reserve service members, and guarantees their re-employment/re-enrollment with no loss of standing upon their return from active duty service. Veteran students like Ruth Ellis appreciate the fact that National makes the process of enrolling and filing the necessary paperwork for veterans benefits efficient and painless. “Everyone has just been great, [my National College admissions representative]...was very enthusiastic, very knowledgeable, and got me with the right people to get all my questions answered,� says the retired 28-year Air Force veteran now studying medical assisting at National College. “In the military...you want things to be organized, and they were. It’s been a good experience.� Army veteran Robert Castellanos, who is nearing completion of his associate degree in health information technology, similarly found the environment at National very “military friendly.� The retired vehicle maintenance specialist says, “For a veteran that wants to come in and seek to further their education, National is the way to go.� Founded in 1886, National College is dedicated to the training and education of men and women for a full life and a successful career in a number of fields in business, computers, and health care. The College offers more than 45 academic programs including a master of business administration, seven bachelor’s degrees, and numerous associate degree and diploma programs. Meeting the workforce needs of 28 communities through campus locations in Virginia, West Virginia, Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio, and Indiana, the College serves more than 12,000 students annually.
