F.I.T. (Fitness in Town) Stuart
Does walking or running a mile seem impossible to you? Have you had the goal of training for a 5K on your bucket list? Would you like to be part of a group that has fun and gets fit at the same time?
Virginia Cooperative Extension “couch to 5K� training focuses on beginners, but all levels of walkers and runners are welcome. The program is structured to help you cross the finish line of your first 5K in six weeks. Along the way we provide you with motivation to keep you moving, guidance and advice, weekly group training walks or runs, and educational clinics on topics such as proper nutrition, choosing the right gear, and avoiding injury. Plus you’ll have the support of others just like you.
The program will begin the first week of August and continue for six weeks leading up to our goal race of Run for the Arts 5K held on September 11, 2010 at DeHart Park in Stuart. Registration fee for the F.I.T. Stuart program is $30.00 and includes two supervised training sessions held on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5:30 at DeHart Park, reduced entry fee to the 5K, a water bottle, t-shirt, journal, and other goodies.
