Source: Martinsville Bulletin, January 25, 2010 Construction projects at all of Patrick County’s schools are under way, and work may be complete by the end of this year, according to schools Superintendent Roger Morris. Blue Ridge Elementary, Hardin Reynolds Elementary, Meadows of Dan Elementary, Patrick Springs Primary, Stuart Elementary, Woolwine Elementary and Patrick County High School all are undergoing construction. The high school is undergoing the most renovations and additions, Morris said. The work being done to the high school, which was built in 1970, takes up roughly half of the $24 million cost of the total project, Morris said. After construction is complete, he said PCHS will have several new facilities, including a band room, culinary arts lab, science labs and foreign language labs. In addition to the new labs and band room, the main office will be moved to the front of the high school. Morris said the relocation is due to security concerns with the current office, which is in the back of the buildings. Office employees cannot see who comes into the front entrance, he said. Currently, Morris said, the ground in front of the high school has been plowed and dug out in preparation for the construction. New walls also are beginning to come up in the front, he said.
