Stuart Fire Captain Lemont Bryant receives coveted 'Iron Man' Award at the Stuart Volunteer Fire Department Christmas Banquet.
Fun Facts Radio's own Lemont Bryant received the coveted 'Iron Man' Award recently during the Stuart Volunteer Fire Department Christmas Banquet. The award is given to the firefighter who responded to the most dispatched calls. At least 75% of all calls dispatched to the Stuart Fire Department are medical calls. The Stuart Fire Department became a First Responder Agency in August 2007. A First Responder Agency is dispatched to emergency medical calls to provide initial patient care, prior to the arrival of the rescue squad. In September 2009, the Stuart Fire Department was upgraded to an Advanced Life Support (ALS) First Responder Agency. Personnel trained on an advanced level are able to provide more advanced medical care.
Lemont pursued a radio engineering career upon graduating Danville Community College and returned 'home' in 2005. After rejoining the Stuart Fire Department, he furthered his education with fire and medical training, thus changing his career. Lemont is now employed with Stone Ambulance Service in Martinsville and is a captain with the Stuart Volunteer Fire Department. This is Lemont's third 'Iron Man' Award in four years. Lemont is married to the former Marie Sprouse.
