Thursday-Friday-Saturday-Sunday, Dec. 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 2009 there will be many special events taking place in Patrick County, VA and the surrounding area celebrating the Christmas holiday.
Here is a list of major events and celebrations:
1. Dec. 1-15, Reynolds Homestead Christmas Tours- 10am-4pm, at Critz. Decorated for a Victorian Christmas. Admission required. Call ahead to schedule a tour. 694-7181
2. Dec. 3- (Thursday) Music Jam-State Line Grocery-Route 8 South, Stuart, starts at 7pm. Bluegrass and mountain music.
3. Dec. 3-4, Holiday Craft Fair-Southern Artisan Center in Martinsville. 5-8pm Friday, 10am-2pm Saturday.
4. Dec. 4 – (Friday) Willis Gap Jamboree-Hollow Road, Ararat. 7pm. Free. Concessions available. Bluegrass, Old Time, Country and Gospel music.
5. Dec. 5 – Annual Christmas Parade-Main Street, Stuart, starts at 2pm. Many floats, fire trucks, Santa, ATV’s and much more.
6. Dec. 5 – Holiday Open House at Landmark Artisan Center and The Big Greenhouse. Stuart, 10:00am-4pm
7. Dec. 5 – Live Nativity Scene at Creasy’s Chapel United Methodist Church. Begins at 6:00pm. Located just off Rt. 103, near Dry Pond.
8. Dec. 5 – Christmas Party for Children up to age 10, Jeb Stuart Rescue Squad, American Legion Rd, Patrick Springs, 3-5pm. Guests including Santa.
9. Dec. 5 – Variety Dance at the American Legion Post 105, Stuart. 7:30pm, Music by Midnight Express.
10. Dec. 5-14, Open House at Chateau Morrisette winery. 12 noon-4pm. Decorated for Christmas. Wine tours. Snacks and drinks available.
11. Dec. 6 – (Sunday) Christopher’s Pizza Music Jam-Meadows of Dan, Jeb Stuart Highway, Rt. 58, 1pm
12. Dec. 6 – Hanging of The Greens and Fellowship Dinner. Stuart Baptist Church. 5pm
13. Dec. 6 – Christmas In The Barn, Lazy H Stables, Iron Bridge Rd. 4 miles on St. Rd. 704. 2-4pm, music by The Country Boys and Swift Creek.
14. Dec. 7 – Christmas Tree lighting, “Love Lights� at Pioneer Community Hospital. Stuart. 7:00pm. Reception following. Special Music. Public invited.

8. Dec. 13 – Christmas programs, “Forgotten Joy,� and “My Chains Are Gone�, Mt. View United Methodist Church, Meadows of Dan, 6pm
9. Dec. 14 –Blue Ridge Nursing Center has Live Nativity Scene. 6:30pm-8:30pm. Stuart. Drive by.
10. Dec. 19 – Patrick County Music Association. Stuart Rotary Field. Kenny and Amanda Smith, Plus more. Doors open at 3:30pm
11. Dec. 19, Square Dance, American Legion, 7:30pm, Stuart. Music by Zephyr Lightning Bolts.
12. Dec. 19, Christmas Meal and Singing, Parkway Church of Brethren, 6pm, music by Southern Prophets
Christmas celebrations are underway, with much entertainment and music planned.
