Virginia Chamber of Commerce Speaks to Recent Election of McDonnell

Hugh Keogh, President of the VA Chamber of Commerce spoke recently in the Chamber newsletter about the challenges facing the new governor of Virginia, Robert F. McDonnell.
The election earlier this month resulted in an overwhelming endorsement of Robert F. McDonnell as the next Governor of Virginia. The Virginia Chamber of Commerce congratulates the Governor-elect for his stunning victory and pledges its complete support to him and his colleagues as we press ahead for a better Virginia. The stark fiscal realities facing Bob McDonnell, Lieutenant Governor Bill Bolling and Attorney General-elect Ken Cuccinelli are staggering and will result in many difficult, even painful decisions to steer state government through perilous times. Noteworthy is the fact that Republicans also netted six seats in the House of Delegates. The constructive and longstanding relationship between that body, its Speaker, Bill Howell, and the Governor-elect could bode for some impressive accomplishments in spite of this dire economic environment. We wish them well and look forward to working with them.
