Janice Wilkins Receives Award for Rural Health Work

Janice Wilkins, Quality Assurance Coordinator, for The Landmark Group, in Stuart, VA, was named recipient of the Virginia Association's 2009 Charles Crowder Jr. Award.
Wilkins receives awards at state and national levels.

Janice Wilkins, Cooperate Quality Assurance Coordinator at The Landmark Group here in Stuart recently received two separate awards for her work with Rural Health. While attending the 2009 Annual Virginia Rural Health Association Conference at The Homestead in Hot Springs, VA, Wilkins was named as the recipient of the Virginia Association’s 2009 Charles Crowder Jr. Award. This award recognizes her outstanding individual commitment and service to the advancement of rural health in Virginia. Her award cited her instrumental work in starting the Patrick County Free Clinic and her also her dedication and commitment to the RJR Hospital while she was the Administrator of that facility. Additionally, while she was attending the annual Virginia conference, Wilkins was informed that she had been selected to participate in the National Rural Health Association Fellows Program for 2010. Each year, the National Rural Health Association selects 10 to 15 highly motivated individuals who have dedicated their professional lives to improving the health of rural Americans. These Rural Health Fellows undergo an intensive year-long skillbuilding program, including three advanced leadership training seminars, attendance at several of NRHA's educational conferences, monthly conference calls on rural health leadership, policy and strategic planning, and a guided group project that will involve Fellows in the process of rural health policy analysis on a national level.
