To the Parents and Community:
I write to you to provide updated information on the vaccination program at the schools. Please read this
carefully as it contains vital information!
Due to a temporary shortage of H1N1 vaccines, the Health Department has asked us to assist them in
informing you and the community that vaccines given at the schools need to go to the following groups of
higher risk individuals:
1. Health care workers and others (i.e. teachers and staff) who work around a large population or
children.
2. Pregnant women.
3. Those caring for children up to 6 months of age, as these infants are too young to be vaccinated.
4. Those aged 2 years to 24 years.
5. Adults with other chronic health issues.
Over time, there will be enough H1N1 vaccine available for everyone who wishes to be vaccinated.
We will work with the Health Department to provide additional immunization sessions as the vaccinations
become available. Once again, the rest of the informational sessions are as follows:
Oct. 26th – Hardin Reynolds Memorial School
Oct. 27th – Patrick Springs Primary School
Oct. 28th – Patrick County High School
Oct. 29th – Stuart Elementary School
Nov. 2nd – Woolwine Elementary School
(NOTE: The sessions for Blue Ridge and Meadows of Dan were held earlier this week). All sessions
begin at 6:30 PM.
Our website also contains information about the H1N1 virus. If you have questions, please contact your
child’s principal or this office. Thank you for your support!
Sincerely,
Roger N. Morris, Ed. D.
Division Superintendent
