Angel Overlook Ribbon Cutting-Ararat, VA

The dedication and ribbon cutting was held on Sept. 19, 2009 on Squirrel Spur Road, near Ararat, VA. Those on hand included Senator Roscoe Reynolds and Delegate Ward Armstrong.

Also attending the event was members of The Angel family, who donated access to the land for this overlook park at a very key location looking over a farm valley and mountain rage. Further, Jonathan Large, Supervisor from Dan River District, Karl Weiss from Blue Ridge District and Board of Supervisors Chair Person, Crystal Harris, from Smith River District, Tom Rose Assistant County Administrator and Jay Scudder, County Administrator The park has picnic tables along a wood rail fence, with an informational kiosk and possesses magnificant views of the mountains which include Pilot Mountain and the Sauratown Mountain Range in North Carolina. Angel Overlook is located near several area attractions such as: the Meadows of Dan Communty, the Blue Ridge Parkway, Primland Resort, Laurel Hill, The Hollow History Center, Rolling Thunder Race Track, Doe Run Farm with its annual corn maze, Puckett and Hall's greenhouses, many local cherry, peach and apple orchards, as well as grain, cattle and horse farms just to name a few. Just under the Historic Mayberry Community is the Country Store and the Mayberry Presbyterian Church, one of the famous rock churches.
