JEB Edward Stuart Visits the Chamber Office on Sept. 9-2009

JEB Edward Stuart of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida visited the Chamber of Commerce office on Wednesday, September 9, 2009, seeking historical information about Maj. Gen. J. E. B. Stuart, CSA.
Mr. Stuart has been researching his family history and realizes he is kin to the famous Civil War General, J. E. B. Stuart, who was born in Ararat (Laurel Hill), Virginia in 1833. His great-grandfather was a brother to Archibald Stuart, Maj. Gen. J. E. B. Stuart's father.
Mr. Stuart attended Robert E. Lee High School in Thomaston, Georgia.
In the picture, he is shown standing in our office holding the bust of Gen. Stuart.
This was his first time to visit Patrick County, Virginia and his intent was to go to the homesite, Laurel Hill.
Ms. Shirley Keene, President of the JEB Stuart Preservation came and shared with him local stories about Maj. Gen. Stuart, and gave him literature about our Civil War Reenactment held annually in Patrick County.
