Boucher Has A Problem with Health Care Plan-Roanoke Times

Aug. 19-Roanoke Times article, page 1, says that Congressman Rick "Boucher is unconvinced of government option" for a new Health Plan for America.
Congressman Rick Boucher, D, Abingdon, VA held a Town Hall meeting at Dublin, VA on Aug. 18, 2009.
At the Town Hall meeting, Boucher would not endorse or condemn any legislation during the 3 hour meeting.
He voiced support for considering a plan to create nonprofit co-operatives as a strong alternative to a new government insurance plan.
He said, "I have a problem with this government option plan, I'm troublied that the government option plan could become very popular and if it became sufficiently popular it could begin to crowd out the other private insurance companies."
He praised the Senate Finance Committee for considering alternatives, for not rushing to produce a bill and for being bipartisan.
He criticized the House of Representatives for moving too fast.
July 31 he voted No against sending HR3200 to the floor when it came up before the Committee on Energy and Commerce, which he serves.
