TOBACCO MUSEUM FEATURED AT HISTORY PROGRAM CRITZ, VA (August 3, 2009)— The latest program in “The History Around Us series at the Reynolds Homestead will feature the Tobacco Farm Life Museum of Virginia from South Hill on Wednesday, August 5, from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. The program, co-sponsored by the Patrick County Historical Society, is a “bring your own lunch event so attendees can take a break from work and come to the Continuing Education Center and learn more about the historical sites of Virginia and surrounding states. Tobacco Farm Life Museum was created to preserve the heritage of Virginia’s tobacco farm family, a swiftly vanishing way of life on which the Commonwealth of Virginia was built. The museum is a living testimonial to this tobacco heritage which strives not only to educate, but also to rekindle the memories of the good old days down on the family farm during the 1900s. The program will be presented by Frank Malone, executive director of the museum. “The discussion will be a wonderful complement to our current exhibition of the R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Collection recently donated to us, says Program Coordinator Lisa Martin. “Visitors will be able to see a complete picture of the history of tobacco in this area. Bring a bag lunch and enjoy this presentation about a very significant historical museum. Groups are welcome. The program lasts one hour and is free and open to the general public. “The History Around Us will be hosted by the Reynolds Homestead and the Historical Society on the first Wednesday of each month. The September program will feature the Booker T. Washington National Monument on the 2nd. The programs begin at noon.
