New Verizon Cell Tower Now In Service-Meadows of Dan, VA

The new Verizon cell phone tower is now in service near U. S. Route 58 By-Pass West of Meadows of Dan, VA. Effective July 29, 2009.

From an official of Verizon I have this quote:
"We don’t have an exact date, but our current plan for that site is to place it in-service in the next 30 days. That of course is not a guarantee, but is our current expectation. We are still waiting on commercial power which we need before we can really begin our testing and fine tuning before we integrate that site into our existing network."
This tower will serve Patrick, Carroll and Floyd counties well by being on top of the mountain, near the Blue Ridge Parkway, and sits at 3154 ft. elevation. The tower is 300 ft. tall and can be seen from the Blue Ridge Parkway.
It is in view of U. S. Route 58, near the RotoMetrics Virginia factory. It should be of great benefit for travelers and local residents.
This is a Verizon Wireless tower.
