On October 29, 2008, the RJR Patrick County Memorial Hospital came under new ownership, with the new name of Patrick Hospital

The hospital continues to maintain it's Critical Access status for short term hospital stays. Ms. Janice Wilkins, Hospital Aministrator, says, "This a positive transition which will maintain a Critical Access Hospital in Patrick County." The Patrick County, VA hospital continues with the following services: In Patient Care Full Service Emergency Services Full labratory services Full X-Ray services Full Physical Theraphy Services Rural Health Clinic with a Dr. Office 8:30am-11:00pm Hospice Out patient services Four suite operating room for out patient surgery Certified nurses Some staff has been cut as a temporary necessity to get the hospitla on strong footing and obtain it's certification for Medicare and Medicaid and Federal Tax identity.
