Laurel Hill is the boyhood home of Maj. Gen. J. E. B. Stuart, located on Ararat Highway, Rt. 773, near the community of Ararat, VA (Patrick County)

A National Historic Site. A Virginia Landmark. Also listed on the historic Civil War trails. Maj.Gen. Stuart was a cavalry commander of the Northern Army of Virginia in the Civil War. He was a graduate of West Point. He was wounded in battle and died May 12, 1864.
