Horseback Riders were a part of the Annual Encampment at Laurel Hill

The Annual Encampment at Laurel Hill, in Ararat, VA, birthplace of Maj. Gen. J. E. B. Stuart, CSA, included these horseback riders. Two days of battle scenes were demonstrated from the American Civil War.

The J.E.B Stuart Birthplace Preservation and Trust held the 18th Annual J. E. B. Stuart Encampment and Living History Saturday and Sunday October 4 & 5, 2008. There was a wide variety of activities for the whole family’s enjoyment. Such as, Civil War battles, 1800’s fashion show, Black Rose Memorial Service, Saturday night ball, Candle Light Tour, Sunday Morning Church Service, String Music, Food Vendors, Civil War Sutlers and hundreds of reenactors. Infantry demonstration was held Saturday by reenactors. Battles held were “Battle of Buford’s Station� and “Battle of Cold Harbor.�
