Stuart Encampment & Living History Laurel Hill at Ararat, VA The J.E.B Stuart Birthplace Preservation and Trust announces the 18th Annual J. E. B. Stuart Encampment and Living History Saturday and Sunday October 4 & 5, 2008, “rain or shine�. There will be a wide variety of activities for the whole family’s enjoyment. Such as, Civil War battles, 1800’s fashion show, Black Rose Memorial Service, Saturday night ball, Candle Light Tour, Sunday Morning Church Service, String Music, Food Vendors, Civil War Sutlers and hundreds of reenactors. Infantry demonstration on Saturday at 9:30am by reenactors. Battles are at 1:30pm Saturday, “Battle of Buford’s Station� and Sunday 1:30pm “Battle of Cold Harbor.� Gates open at 9:00am Saturday and closes at 4:00pm Sunday. Flag raising 9:00am Saturday morning. Admission is $8.00 adults, children 12 and under are free and parking is free. Laurel Hill is located at 1091 Ararat Highway, near Ararat, VA.
