PRESS RELEASE-Day of Remembrance-Food Bank Support

During the March 13, 2008 meeting, the Patrick County School Board adopted a resolution recognizing that April 16th be designated as a Day of Remembrance for the victims of the tragedy at Virginia Tech.

Hylton, Member – Peters Creek District Website: http://www.patrick-county.org April 28, 2008 PRESS RELEASE On Wednesday, April 16, 2008 students, staff, parents, and community members were asked to make a donation of one or more non-perishable food items to the Patrick County Food Bank in support of the Virginia Tech community and in honor of those families whose lives were tragically altered by the events of one year ago. The Patrick County Public Schools, the Reynolds Homestead, and the Virginia Cooperative Extension Service partnered together to promote, collect and distribute donations to the Patrick County Food Bank. With the assistance of one or more service clubs, or other volunteers in each school, the community collected almost 2,700 items for the Patrick County Food Bank. This effort in giving is a testament to the generous nature of the students, staff, and community of Patrick County!
