Article published in the Martinsville Bulletin, April 20, 2008, in the Real Estate Section.
According to Edd Martin, a broker with Dee's Country Places in Patrick County, "We're dealing a lot with retirees and those seekiing vacation homes. A lot are from North and Floridians moving up."
Also, people come to Patrick from the Carolinas, he said, adding that many are drawn by the quality of life in Patrick County.
At United Country Lambert Realty, Johnny Lambert agreed that retirees and those seeking weekend getaways are the most frequent customers.
"Because of the mountains people want the higher elevation where it's cooler in the summer." Lambert said.
Homes are selling from $300,000 price on down.
Lambert said the first three months of 2008 "were real good for us. April seems to be OK, a litter slower maybe."
