Thursdays, 6:30pm, Instructor: Anita Hooker. We are happy to announce that
Anita Hooker is back at Spencer-Penn for an afternoon Aerobics class. This is a
training, physical rehabilitation and Pilates. Cost is $3.00 per session.
The Computer Lab will be open to the public. High Speed Internet Access is
available. Programs such as Power Point and Photo Shop are available. A fee will
be charged for the use of printers, no instruction will be offered.
We have lots of books to check out. Sign up for a library card today. No Charge

We now have our Summer Camp Schedule ready. Give us a call and we will e-mail
you the list. Lots of exciting camps in July.
Each camp will have a mid-class
snack. Children may enroll in a morning and an afternoon class and if so,
lunch will be provided. If the 4:00pm pick up time is difficult, we will also
provide after class care until 6:00pm. A $5/class discounts for members of the
Spencer-Penn Centre. Membership is $10/member or $25 for a Family
membership. Pre-registration is required one week prior to class. Some
classes have maximum size. Ages for most classes: 6-12 years

*Beginning Clogging: Tuesday , July 12 & 19, 1-2:30PM. Instructor Marla Perry
of the Old Dominion Cloggers; Learn the basic clogging steps needed to get
you up on the floor and having fun. Cost $10, for ages 12 and up
*Book Discussion
The Third Thursday, The Spencer-Penn Book Club will meet in the Hylton Library,
3:30pm, July 21st, the book is The People of the Book by Geraldine Brooks. Based
on a true incident, this book traces the fictional history of an ancient Jewish
document/book found in recent years. August 18th we have selected
Complications by Atul Gawande a doctor who discusses several cases which
highlight ethical issues of medicine.

Saturday, July 16, 9:15am to 1pm, Make a beautiful basket to take home

*Beginning Sewing
July 23, 9-12:00; Instructor Vicki Wasoski; students will learn the basic principles
of cutting out a pattern and using the sewing machine to make a tote. All materials
will be provided but if you have a sharp pair of scissors, please bring them. For
ages teens to adults, cost $15/members & $20/non-members. Call the Centre to
register.
*Photography
July 13 & 14; 9-12noon; Instructor, professional photographer, Rick
Dawson. Students learn to use a digital camera and are introduced to Adobe
Photoshop for editing and creating a photo collage. $10/members and $15/non-
members.
*Self Defense Class
Sat., July 23; 9:00-11:00; This is a hands on class with some
lecture concerning safety practices; low intensity; close quarters self-defense
techniques; dress comfortably. Instructor, HC Sheriff's Officer, John Cassell; class
limit of 10 students; $15/members, $20/non-members.
*Gun Safety Class
October 15, Saturday, 8am to 12noon at the Henry County Firing Range.
Registration is required by October 9th. Class is taught by Henry County Sheriff’s
office. Limited to 12 students. Cost is $45. Students will need 25 rounds of ammo
and their own gun.
