Aerobics -Thursdays, 6:30pm, Instructor: Anita Hooker, classes start on June 2nd,we are happy to announce that Anita Hooker will be back at Spencer-Penn for an afternoon.
Aerobics class. This is a Free class with the M/HC Coalition for Health & Wellness
We now have our Summer Camp Schedule ready. Give us a call and we will e-mail
you the list. Lots of exciting camps this year.
Each camp will have a mid- class snack. Children may enroll in a morning and an afternoon class and if so, lunch will be provided. If the 4:00pm pick up time is difficult, we will also provide after class care until 6:00pm. A $5/class discounts for members of the Spencer-Penn Centre. Membership is $10/member or $25 for a Family membership. Pre-registration is required one week prior to class. Some
classes have maximum size. Ages for most classes: 6-12 years

Book Discussion
The Third Thursday, The Spencer-Penn Book Club will meet in the Hylton Library,
3:30pm, June 16th. : we are doing Born on a Blue Day by Daniel Tammet. This
book is written by an autistic person and details his difficulties in coping with
challenges in his life. July 21st book is The People of the Book by Geraldine
Brooks. Based on a true incident, this book traces the fictional history of an ancient
Jewish document/book found in recent years. August 18th, we have selected
Complications by Atul Gawande a doctor who discusses several cases which
highlight ethical issues of medicine.
Basket Making Class -Saturday, June 18, 9:15am to 1pm, Make a beautiful basket to take home
Cost $25-$40 depending on the basket, Call 276-957-1521 or 276-957-5757 to

Jewelry Class -Saturday, June 18, 10-12:00noon; instructor Donna Barker Hubbard; each student will learn design and repair of jewelry and will take home a necklace and ear rings.
$15 for Members and $20 for Non-members. Must pre-register by June 13.
Beginning Guitar -Thursdays, beginning June 21, 28, and July 19th, 26th, 6:30pm—7:30pm
This is a beginner guitar camp for students who are interested in learning the basics to playing the guitar. Ages 8 and up. Page Cobbler instructor, Cost: $25/members,
$30 non-members (We have some guitars available for students to use)
Beginning Sewing -July 23, 9-12:00; Instructor Vicki Wasoski; students will learn the basic principles
of cutting out a pattern and using the sewing machine to make a tote. All materials
will be provided but if you have a sharp pair of scissors, please bring them. For
ages teens to adults, cost $15/members & $20/non-members. Call the Centre to
register.
Photography -June 13 & 14; 9-12noon; Instructor, professional photographer, Rick Dawson.
Students learn to use a digital camera and are introduced to Adobe Photoshop
for editing and creating a photo collage. $10/members and $15/non-members.
Variety Show Auditions -Thursday, June 23 & Saturday June 25, auditions for the August performance will be held in June. This is sure to be great fun. If you have a talent and would like to be a part of our group please come and try out. Call the Centre for more information.
Self Defense Class -Sat., July 23; 9:00-11:00; This is a hands on class with some
lecture concerning safety practices; low intensity; close quarters self-defense
techniques; dress comfortably. Instructor, HC Sheriff's Officer, John Cassell; class
limit of 10 students; $15/members, $20/non-members.
