SEEK: Summer Engineering Experience for Kids

The SEEK Program is a fun and engaging educational experience, utilizing a hands on design curriculum. Students work in teams, using knowledge to solve problems and create products while discovering the underlying math and science principles involved. Students take on a project, culminating with a presentation, design competition, and physical competitions that all parents are encouraged to attend.

Minecraft Makers Camp

Design your world in Minecraft and build your characters using various Fabrication Lab equipment including laser cutters, 3D printers, and more.

Take your taste buds on a trip around the world! Learn a cuisine from a different country every day and make delicious meals like pasta from scratch, crepes (thin French pancakes),

Glass Art Camp

Students explore a wide range of glass art techniques, including the safe use of tools and the basics of cutting glass. Throughout the week, students create beautiful and functional pieces.

Engineering for Girls

An engineering summer camp for girls to explore science, engineering and math through the art of making! Armed with an understanding of math and science, a bit of engineering know how, and boundless creativity, nothing is impossible. Girls explore the creative process and craft items that have form and function. Learn new computer tools to make creative ideas into actual designs and then use the Martinsville Fab Lab to build a final product.

Focus on a different artistic medium each day and create projects in drawing, painting, printmaking, collage, and sculpture!

Programming your World: Coding Camp

Technology is everywhere at the heart of it lies computer programming, strange words in what look like a foreign language, on a computer screen that give life to so many things around us. Use Arduino microcontrollers to explore how computer programming can be used to manipulate things like lights, switches, sensors, and motors.

Fab Lab Innovation Camp

Students learn to conceptualize, design, and prototype new products. Students use various Fabrication Lab equipment including laser cutters, 3D printers, and more to manufacture ideas. Students design and produce a variety of projects to take home, like t-shirts, stickers, and 3D-printed objects.

Engineering for Boys

Explore different types of engineering through hands-on, team-based design projects. Rising 6th and 7th grade boys learn, that armed with an understanding of math and science, a bit of engineering know-how, and boundless creativity, nothing is impossible. Boys work with engineering faculty from NCI's Academy for Engineering and Technology to explore the engineering design process and to take these ideas beyond the abstract into real life.

Photography Camp

Addicted to Instagram? Obsessed with selfies? Take digital photo skills to the next level with lessons from a professional photographer as you explore the scenic campus. Students learn to use a digital camera and are introduced to Adobe Photoshop for editing and creating a photo collage. Digital cameras are provided or bring your own.
