February 12, 2015
Mary Jo and Charlie Leet have been performing and recording in the acoustic music industry for well over twenty years, traveling internationally as well as throughout the United States. Playing acoustic guitar and bass, they spent over fifteen years as the “rhythm core” of the Dry Branch Fire Squad bluegrass band and recorded many projects on niche super-label, Rounder Records.
“The Mary Jo and Charlie Show with Ron and Tommy”will perform at The Rives Theater, 215 E Church St, Martinsville, VA 24112 on Saturday, February 21 at 7PM. For info call (276) 403-0872.
Working as a duet or in concert with fine musicians, this pair enjoys sharing their American Acoustic Music experience with the live audience!
In Patrick County, Mary Jo and Charlie have teamed up with super-musicians Ron Pendleton on mandolin and Tommy Morse on banjo to produce a program of highly-charged instrumentals as well as soul-stirring duets and trios that run the gamut from traditional bluegrass to gospel and old country hits.
Both Ron and Tommy, master musicians themselves, were raised in Patrick County, VA and learned traditional music from first generation Virginia masters – in an area that could be considered, literally, the “cradle” of American music!
Mary Jo and Charlie moved to Patrick Springs, VA in 2006 and MJ said, “…that kind of talent may be in water around here and we are drinking from the well”!!!
