The Crooked Road's Mountains of Music Homecoming

Town Under the Lake, Fairystone State Park Shelter #4 -- 7:30p-9:30p. A guided canoe tour of serene fairy stone lake. Learn the history of the old iron ore mining boomtown of Fayerdale over which the lake now flows. $5/person. Call 276-930-2424, or email fairystone@dcr.virginia.gov.

Front Porch Bluegrass Jamboree - Poor Farmers Farm - Meadows of Dan, Va -- 2:00p-5:00p. The event will be an outdoor event featuring three local old time and bluegrass bands. This event will be on our new "front porch Bluegrass stage" located at our country store. This event is to promote the cultural tradition of old time and bluegrass music. This event will offer participants the opportunity to be involved in the mountain tradition of flat-footing and dance. Participants will also have the opportunity to browse through all our locally grown produce and other locally made food products in our country store environment. Virginia Covered Bridge Festival - Woolwine, VA -- 10:00a-4:00p. The annual festival designated during 2007 session of the Virginia General Assembly as the Virginia Covered Bridge Festival is a celebration of local heritage, Bob White Covered Bridge (circa 1914), Jacks Creek Bridge (circa 1921) are located in Woolwine, VA and are two of the only 7 publicly owned bridges remaining in the Commonwealth. The One-Day event features a full schedule of live musical entertainment, both traditional and eclectic at the bridge. Also included are horse and wagon rides, arts, crafts and food vendors; activities for children, bridge tours, a "duck race" in the Smith River and a 5K along with various historical displays and enactments.
