Guided Fairy Stone Hunt, Fairystone State Park Shelter #4 -- 9:00a-10:30a. Learn the legend behind naturally occurring stone cross formations and travel to the special location in the park to search for your own staurolite crystal or "fairystone". Water Buffalo Farm Tour & Tasting - Stuart, VA -- 11:00a. Short tour of Mulberry Farms pasture to see water buffalo, Including interactions with come of the animals followed by a tasting event. Tasting event will feature samples of four types of sausages and patties can be tried. Please wear shoes or boots that may get muddy. Event will take place rain or shine. $10 admission. Living History at Laurel Hill - Ararat, VA -- 11:00a-3:00p. The tranquil and beautiful place known as Laurel Hill, is nestled beneath the Blue Ridge Mountains of Southwestern Virginia in Patrick County. Laurel Hill is owned and maintained by the JEB Stuart Birthplace Preservation Trust, Inc., and is the birthplace of the famous civil war general. Each year in October a Living History Weekend is held at the site which is on both the Virginia Landmarks Register and the National Register of Historic Places. As part of "Mountains of Music Homecoming" we will be hosting visitors to the site for tours and information on the history associated with it, offering food and refreshments similar to those served during the 1800's and presenting historic programs throughout the day. Stonewall Country: Barter Theatre On The Road - Star Theatre, Stuart, VA -- 7:00p. The Crooked Road's Mountains of Music Homecoming is pleased to present Barter Theatre On the Road, a performance of Stonewall Country at the Star Theatre in Stuart, VA. The Barter Theatre presents Stonewall Country, chronicling the life of bold Civil War strategist Stonewall Jackson through the music of renowned songwriters Robin and Linda Williams. Come see Robin and Linda use their unique blend of bluegrass, folk, old-time and acoustic country to detail this military master's life with passion. Seating is general admission with VIP seats available. VIP seats are "best seats in house" and are guaranteed seats up till show time. With VIP tickets, there is no need to get there early for a great seat. The performance will be held at the Star Theatre located at 318 Patrick Ave. Stuart, VA 24171.
