QUICK FACTS ABOUT BUSHELS AND BARRELS
• This festival is a partnership among four non-profit organizations in Patrick and Henry counties: the Reynolds Homestead, a Commonwealth Campus Center of Virginia Tech; the Spencer-Penn Center, the Patrick County Skate Park Association, and our local food advocacy group, Field to Friends.
• Our mission is to mutually promote the economic development of our local food, wine, and beer producers, generate more public awareness for the local products available in our area, and increase tourism to the local area with a signature event.
• Featured music for the event includes two local bands, including After Jack out of Ferrum to open the event, followed by the Les Moore Trio, a popular blues band. Our signature band to draw folks is a fantastic 80s cover band from Virginia Beach called The Reflex. The variety of music will be a big draw for people in our area and differs from the usual fare, hopefully drawing in a large portion of the 20-40 year old population.
• We are collaborating as each organization brings specific areas of expertise to the table to ensure the success of the venture. Our initial target audience will be consumers in a 100-mile radius who are interested in local foods and who enjoy outdoor festivals with music and wine/beer. This audience will benefit by being introduced to producers and growers throughout the region and have an opportunity to purchase their goods and services.
• Local artists and artisans will also have their works on display so the entire festival will be a tribute to the tremendous talent and potential of our area for economic development and as a tourist destination.
